Computational contact formulations
While at the external pageUniversità del Salentocall_made, we proposed a few enhancements of the standard node-to-segment formulation, in order to enable it to pass the patch test and to tackle critical projection cases for C0 finite element discretizations. We also proposed a strategy to significantly enhance robustness in contact computations despite using large load steps and an augmented Lagrangian algorithm based on linear regression. More recently, in collaboration with external pageRWTH Aachencall_made we proposed what we called the “two-half-pass algorithm” for an unbiased computational treatment of the contacting bodies in both frictionless and frictional problems.
