Computational contact formulations

While at the external pageUniversità del Salento, we proposed a few enhancements of the standard node-to-segment formulation, in order to enable it to pass the patch test and to tackle critical projection cases for C0 finite element discretizations. We also proposed a strategy to significantly enhance robustness in contact computations despite using large load steps and an augmented Lagrangian algorithm based on linear regression. More recently, in collaboration with external pageRWTH Aachen we proposed what we called the “two-half-pass algorithm” for an unbiased computational treatment of the contacting bodies in both frictionless and frictional problems.
